How this independent guide handles your information.

Who operates this guide?
Everything Ekurhuleni is an independent community guide. The legal operator is Jean Martin Zuidersma, trading as Everything Ekurhuleni. It is separate from the City of Ekurhuleni and the organisations listed.
Contact: jmzuidersma@gmail.com. Operator contact address: 78 Goshawk Crescent, Parklands Estate, Boksburg, South Africa. Telephone: 0724522300.
Searching and Stoffel
Search matching, filters and Stoffel’s responses run in your browser. Stoffel does not send your questions to an AI provider. There are no user accounts. A search-page URL can contain your search words and town; page URLs and network details may be processed by the hosting provider. Keep sensitive information out of searches and Stoffel questions.
Browser storage and cookies
Your preferred town may be saved as ee-town in this browser’s localStorage. Your passport uses ee-passport-v1. You can change your preference or clear it through your browser’s site-data settings. The site code does not add advertising trackers, a newsletter signup or analytics scripts. Netlify may process operational network data and use cookies for its own access-protection services. Caveat and DM Sans are served with this website. Loading the fonts does not contact Google.
Your device passport
Your optional profile, interests, home town, visit dates and notes stay in this browser for this website address. The passport code does not upload them to us. Stamps are your own record of visits, not verified attendance, benefits or membership. A nickname is welcome; avoid sensitive notes and other people’s private information. On a shared device, other users of the same browser may be able to open your passport.
You can edit or remove stamps, edit your profile, download and merge a JSON backup, or clear the passport on the passport page. Backups contain your profile and notes. Clearing site data can remove your passport; each browser or website address has separate storage. We cannot recover local data for you. If local storage is unavailable, download a backup before leaving the session.
Listing submissions
Submitting is optional. The form sends the public listing details, source, submitter name, review email, relationship, review/publication permissions and optional Gmail-reply choice to Netlify Forms so we can check the listing and decide whether to publish. Fields marked required are needed to review the form. You are not legally required to submit a listing.
The Gmail-reply choice is separate and optional. We contact a submitter through Gmail only if they opt in to that route, including its overseas processing. Review and publication can proceed without Gmail contact. If information cannot be verified without clarification, a listing may remain unpublished. You can use the telephone or postal contact details above instead.
Submission forms are for adults aged 18 or older. Do not submit children’s personal information, private home addresses, ID numbers, customer information or sensitive personal details. Share contact details only if they are intended for public listing and you are authorised to share them. Your review name, email and correspondence are not published as listing contacts. Review consent is separate from permission to publish supplied public details.
Only reviewed public details appear in a future update. We may reword descriptions for clarity. A submission does not guarantee publication, ranking or a passport stamp. We do not use review emails for marketing or sell submission contact details.
Public directory information
Existing records are drawn from the provider, organiser, municipal or association sources linked on each listing. We use public details to help visitors find local services, places and groups; public availability alone does not remove privacy obligations. Use the email, telephone or postal contact details above to request access, verification, correction, objection or removal of information about you or your listing. There is no charge to submit a correction or removal request. We may need proportionate information to confirm your authority.
Emails and recipients
The contact composer prepares a message in your browser after you choose the Gmail route. Its separate consent choice explains that Google may process your enquiry and contact details outside South Africa. The prepared message includes that choice; you still decide whether to send it using your email app. The website does not send email automatically or access your email account. Google and your email provider process a message and any attachments you choose to send.
The operator uses jmzuidersma@gmail.com for voluntary enquiries and minimal correspondence with people who choose that route. For a listing submission, we check the separate Gmail-reply choice before emailing the submitter. Listing records and permissions stay in the Netlify review queue. We do not automatically forward submissions, copy submission archives or use Gmail as the listing-review database. Do not send sensitive information, children’s details or other people’s private information through email. We do not use enquiry or review correspondence for marketing.
The operator and authorised reviewers use Netlify for hosting and form review under its Data Processing Agreement. Google provides consumer Gmail under its own terms and Privacy Policy. Google explains its consumer-service role in its Privacy Help Center. Merely opening this website does not send an enquiry to Gmail. Fonts are served locally. We may disclose information if lawfully required.
Retention
Rejected or withdrawn private review records are removed within 90 days after the decision or completed withdrawal handling. Accepted private records are reviewed after 12 months: unnecessary contact details are removed, and only necessary permission/source evidence is retained while the listing remains active. The operator reviews deletion monthly. A documented legal obligation or dispute may justify limited longer retention.
We keep identifiable review records and correspondence only for as long as needed to handle the submission, enquiry, correction or a legal obligation. Published listing details remain while relevant and are subject to correction or removal requests. Passport storage stays until you change or clear it. Provider backup and operational-log retention is governed by the relevant service arrangements.
Overseas processing and security
Netlify hosting and form handling may involve processing outside South Africa. Its written processing agreement sets out instructions, confidentiality, security and safeguards for onward providers. The operator’s assessment uses those contractual safeguards for this hosting and review workflow.
The separate Gmail route may also involve processing outside South Africa. We use your explicit choice for your own enquiry/contact information and correspondence through consumer Gmail, which operates under Google’s own policies. That choice does not authorise bulk transfer of submission records or other people’s private information. It does not replace a processing contract where one is required. You may withdraw future Gmail contact permission using the email, telephone or postal details above; withdrawal does not undo lawful processing already completed. The provider assessment must be revisited if these uses change.
Review-queue access is limited to authorised people. Do not submit information if your browser reports an insecure connection. No service is entirely risk-free. Keep backup files private. External provider pages and map links apply their own privacy notices.
Your rights and complaints
Use the email, telephone or postal contact details above to ask about personal information we hold, request access or correction, object to processing where applicable, withdraw consent for future processing, or request deletion where permitted. Withdrawal does not undo lawful processing already completed. We will explain any lawful reason to retain information. We cannot inspect or erase your device passport remotely; use its editing and clear controls.
You can complain to the Information Regulator, including via POPIAComplaints@inforegulator.org.za or 010 023 5200. Access-to-information requests may use the procedures in our PAIA manual.
We will update this notice when the service or its processing changes. See our Terms and listing rules.
